VOLUNTEERS' DAY AT MT BARKER

 16 May 2014

What a celebration it was. On Friday 16 th May the Mount Barker Council put on a special occasion to thank the many volunteers in the district who carry on a variety of activities from caring for the elderly and disabled to pulling weeds and other chores to keep the local parks and gardens tip-top.

The event was held in the sumptuous surroundings of Auchendarroch House, and the Wallis Complex of 7 Cinemas -   After a brief informative ceremony hosted by Mt Barkers' charismatic Mayor, Anne Ferguson, and other local dignitaries the fun began with free popcorn and drinks, to complimentary entrance to a chosen movie in the cinemas -

Of course the entertainment was happening non stop throughout the day with young musicians strumming their guitars with pop tune vocals, to older entertainers from choirs and other local groups - by contribution to the day was an hour of keyboard favourites, and sing-a-longs   --   a most successful day highlighting the importance of volunteering in a vibrant district - Barry Hall.
